Watoto Youth Dance Group

Come join us for a fun and enriching experience with the Watoto Youth Dance Group. Students receive comprehensive instruction in a range of cultural dances from West Africa and the surrounding African diaspora as well as training in modern, jazz, urban​ and lyrical techniques. No experience necessary.

The V.I.B.E. Tour

The V.I.B.E. Tour, which means; Vigorously, Influencing, Black. Excellence - is an outreach program initiated by Sankofa Cultural Foundation of Alaska, It involves visiting schools and delivering and informative and educational presentations on African-American heritage and culture through artistic expression. Founded by Tonya Sherman in 1997 in Savannah, Georgia, this program has gained popularity as it leverages the universal language of dance as a mean of communication to reach the students.

 African Drum & Dance Workshop

Experience the rhythms of Africa in this interactive drum and dance workshop. Learn how they are played, and join in song and music making as well as learn traditional West African movements & other inspired cultural movements. All ages can join us for a memorable experience. Taught by Master Drummer Jesse Wright & Johnnie Wright III with Dance Instruction taught by Misha B, Darla Ranae & Leoney Fuqua.

We invite you to join our dynamic drum group, where we celebrate the rich musical heritage of the African diasporaa abd other culturally inspired rhythms. Led by Master Drummers; Jesse Wright & Johnnie Wright, both distinguished culture bearers.

We welcome youth members and invite anyone interested to participate.

Cultural Arts Community Outreach Residency Program

The Cultural Arts Community Outreach Residency Program (C.A.C.O.)a is a program by the Sankofa Cultural Foundation of Alaska ained at preserving and educating about cultural heritage. This initiative includes involving youth in art, music, dance and literary activities t foster cultural vibrancy, exchange and unity. The residency program is open to schools, camps, social clubs and the community, Throughout the residencym we impart principles from our JamiI Curriculum, which not only include valuable life lessons but also share culturally relevant information.
